OH WHAT A NIGHT!

Arielle and I are in Los Angeles for the LA Marathon this weekend. In fact, the marathon started about 15 minutes ago - I watched the start from our 20th floor hotel room! We haven't trained for the marathon so Mer is going to drive us halfway and we are going to run the half marathon. Should be fun, though I am feeling a bit tired and not that enthused about running.

This trip to LA has been great. I met a nice boy. We will see where/if it goes. But if nothing else, I had one of the best spontaneous dates of my life! We met at the movie premiere for "She's the Man." Mer's friend Karen Lutz was one of the writers and she was having a little party after the movie. So, we went to the movie and we went to the party. It was a little cocktail-y thing at the theater. Beer, wine, and waiters with trays of bad appetizers. And at the party I met Jason Frasca. We talked for about an hour and a half. Then we all went to dinner (Me, Mer, Cynthia, Arielle, Mer's friend MIchael, and Jason) in the ArcLight Cafe. After dinner he intimated to me that he wanted to keep hanging out but I was like, "Well, I should probably get home and sleep - I've got that half marathon on Sunday." Then I realized how LAME that was. And so when we were outside on our way to the car, I told Mer that I thought he might be trying to hang out more and that I messed up and could she help me. So when he came outside (he was saying goodbye to people) she said, "My sister's not that tired...you should go out," we did. And that was that. Oh what a night!

We had a great time. Went to the Dresden and had a martini (although in truth I drank about three sips and ate both our olives. Martinis are not for me,). Then we drove around LA a bit. And then we went to his beautiful apartment and stayed up most of the night talking and laughing and having fun. We fell asleep around 6am and woke up at 730am so he could get on the road. He was supposed to head to Palm Springs the night before, after the movie. But he stuck around so we could hang out and he needed to head up early. We got ready and went to breakfast at the Farmer's Market. Then he dropped me off at Mer's building. It was dreamy. And now we will see if he calls me. Either way, it was dreamy.
