Finally...
Something I am happy to read about
Well, it's just a small segment of the press and for sure they are operating in the little cocoon of the White House press room and for sure no mainstream media outlets are covering it. But it's nice to see that the Karl Rove-Valerie Plame issue is getting their full attention and that they aren't letting (at least for now) Scott McClellan weasel out of this one too easily.
AT THE RISK OF ENCOURAGING HIM...
Who is this kid? And who decided he should be allowed to sing in the middle of Madison Square Garden like this? And how is it possible he actually gets work on Broadway? Kids like this are annoying, I have to say. They are not cute at all, just totally affected and they play cute, which is about the least cute thing you could do.
I found this on Screenhead.com, a virtual treasure trove of interesting media tidbits.
THE IDIOT BOX
Last night our neighbor and landlord came over around 10pm. He came to tell us that we have cable and he has an extra TV (mind you, it's a plasma screen TV that is about 27 inches wide!). He came in, hooked it up, and Peter and I stood in front of it, practically drooling, as it swept through the channels. We have EuroSport (live TDF coverage!), we have CNN, BBC, TCM Crime Wave (what is this weird channel?), Discovery Channel and numerous other channels in Hungarian, French and Italian (?). I, for one, am excited. I woke up this morning and had my cereal on the living room floor as I stared at CNN. Now all we need is the Internet at home - it's supposed to happen this week! - and I will feel like a real person who actually is living in the year 2005! I have to tell you, I don't know how those people who live without television do it. I mean, I am not a TV junkie by any means. Most days in Berkeley I didn't even turn on the TV. But I liked having it so I could watch it when I needed or wanted to. Now I just have to deal with the fact that all I get to watch is news and sports. I am sorry but the TCM Crime Wave movies are just not my scene. Even the Hallmark channel is in Hungarian so I can't even watch sappy movies with Melissa Gilbert or Jennie Garth!
A NEW BLOGGER
Teresa (Brown) Wheeler, an old friend from high school, has started a blog. Teresa lives in Kansas now with her husband and four (yes, 4) children. Yes, Teresa is married with four children (four!) and I am still gallivanting the globe, single and childless. My how our paths have diverged. In any case, Teresa has started blogging and I am sure her entries will be wildly different from mine. For anyone interested in reading the musings of a self-described "Blue in a Red State," check out the link.
